Fiddle Mania Concert

My name is Ben Plotnick – I am a fiddler and music teacher in Calgary. I specialize mostly in Bluegrass, Swing, Celtic and Old Tyme fiddle playing. I am the artistic director of a music camp every summer, in Cochrane, AB. FiddleMania, as it is called, has attracted players of all ages, levels and musical backgrounds. You can check out the camp at www.fiddle-mania.com.

This year, to “spread the word” about FiddleMania, so to speak, I am hosting several shows around Alberta. These shows should be of great value – They will feature some of Calgary’s best young acoustic musicians, demonstrating lots of fiddle-related idioms, such as the ones mentioned before: Bluegrass, Texas Swing, Celtic, Old Tyme and more!

In order to attract as many people as possible, the show will be FREE for any violin student in Alberta! Just send me an email, or give me a call and I’ll get you a free admission pass. Admission for anyone else will only be 5$ at the door.

The lineup for the shows is as follows:

Ben Plotnick – Fiddle (www.benplotnick.com)
Jarred Albright – Mandolin (www.mckeeverscrossing.com)
Sean Softley - Bodhran, Fiddle (www.seansoftley.com)
Joshua Cockerill – Guitar, Vocals (myspace.com/joshuacockerill)
Mark Thompson – Bass (www.kineticnorthband.com)

The shows will take place in the following places:

SUNDRE
May 16, Doors @ 7:30, Show @ 8:00
The Sundre Arts Centre

RED DEER
May 17, Doors @ 7:30, Show @ 8:00

CALGARY

Don’t miss it!
Any questions? You can reach me at ben@fiddle-mania.com or (403) 681-5087.

Thanks!

Ben Plotnick
